There is a small division in the giant that is Sabre Holdings whose workers might argue they have a travel technology equivalent of the so-called Best Job in the World in Queensland.
Created a few years back, Texas-based Sabre Travel Solutions exists solely to develop tools for its sister departments around the company and for the wider travel industry.
The team was behind the widely praised Cubeless online community system in 2008 and, for its pet project in 2009, created the TripCase mobile application.
The service was launched in April 2009 and is a mobile concierge platform running on the iPhone, Blackberry and Windows Mobile.
Toby Cunningham, vice president for business development and product strategy at STS, says the service will also be available for the Google Android platform in the coming months.
In short, the TripCase system is a post-booking application that manages a user’s travel itinerary including an automatic Passenger Name Record uploading system where available.
Central to the app, which its creators say puts it ahead of other existing itinerary management apps, is its ability to integrate flight, hotel and car hire products into the system.
TripCase also sends users a variety of messages up to and during a customer’s trip, including mission-critical alerts such as flight changes, gate number and check-in information.
Marketing and affiliate messages from the TripCase and third parties are also included in the platform as it looks to build a wider, full-service management tool.
Cunningham says content from Sabre’s database, such as events and mapping information, will also be interwoven into a user’s itinerary using geolocation tools.
Sabre’s TripCase will be showcased at PhoCusWright’s Travel Innovation Summit on Tuesday 17 November 2009.
