Foreign exchange service Travelex is to provide overseas currency information on TripAdvisor, the first time a third party system has been integrated into the user review site.
The partnership is currently just for users of the UK and US versions of TripAdvisor and will see the Travelex currency conversion widget placed throughout the Before You Go destination guides on the site.
Travelex says the deal is likely to be rolled out further to its country sites in the future, "when we prove the model works and that customers are responding".
The widget includes real-time currency rates and other information, plus direct access to the existing Travelex currency purchase system.
The deal is not only the first time that TripAdvisor has included a service on the site provided by a outside party but also a debut for providing overseas money information and functionality.
The move is the latest in a long line of enhancements in recent years to diversify the service outside of the core hotel review platform, including the launch of flight metasearch, destination pages and content, tour and activity deals and vacation rentals.
The pair are already plugging the partnership through ads on the US site and will be rolling out a similar campaign in the UK next week.
