It's hardly surprising technology is high on the list of priorities for corporate travel managers given the drive to cut costs, attempts to integrate data and the need for management information.
The following infographic from the
GBTA and
Egencia, based on a survey conducted earlier this year, provides some good insight.
The study of about 1,500 travel managers globally (general findings
here) was to gauge their perceptions on challenges and expectations around global travel programs.
However, here they pick out some of the priorities including:
- Technology seen as the key for the future of travel management. Data integration, flexibility and the integration of new mobile technology (think travel apps) are among the top five' must haves' for future global travel programs.
- In Europe, respondents saw data integration as the number one requirement with 82% saying it was important for a future global travel program, compared to the worldwide result of 73%. North American companies also believe it is a number one priority at 88% while emerging in Asia and LATAM rank cost containment as the most essential factor.
- Questioned on how TMCs have improved over the past five years, top answers from respondents were keeping up to date with technology and online booking solutions. 70% of respondents believe online booking capabilities have improved.
