- Celebrity Cruises signed a fleet-wide contract to use OnboarD’s IssuTrax facilities maintenance system. The solution provides a centralized system designed to enable staff at myriad locations to schedule tasks and coordinate work orders. Full story.
- Travel agencies in the US sold $21.8 billion in airline tickets in the first quarter of 2011, a 10.68% increase over the first quarter of 2010, according to ARC. The increase in sales came despite a slight drop in passenger traffic from 87.6 million in the first quarter of 2010 to 86.2 million in the first quarter of 2011. These numbers do not include tickets sold on airline websites.
- Hotel commission recovery service Net Trans to open dedicated to online travel agencies. Net Trans has set up the office in Seville, recently appointed a director of sales for the department Ignacio Diaz-Barcelo, and will OTAs help identify monies owed by hotels.
