Saga Travel, the specialist in holidays for the over-fifties, is bringing its brochures right up to date with the use of a virtual reality application.
The Aurasma app, which is available free for both iPhone and Android devices, enables travellers to virtually visit Saga's cruise holidays and other destinations by delivering additional video, audio and web content while they are browsing.
The screenshot below shows Aurasma in action with a polar bear on London's River Thames.
The app creates an interactive experience by recognising images and objects within the brochures and adding augmented reality scenes to the content.
The Mexico Tourism Board also recently used the Aurasma technology to create an augmented reality postcard which triggered video testimonials from people who had visited the destination.
The organisation distributed 1,000 postcards and achieved 13,000 video views.
The clip below shows how the technology worked for a Panasonic campaign in the summer.
