The instant booking trend on travel sites is now hitting the multi-modal players, with Rome2Rio taking bookings for rail trips in the UK.
The Australia-based company has enlisted the help of SilverRail Technologies so that rail users can search and book a ticket for all train operators in the UK.
Rome2Rio says it is initially focusing on the UK as European customers account for 65% of its monthly site traffic.
Other markets are expected to launch in the coming months.
Users will be able to use Rome2Rio to search for door-to-door route options and pricing, but secure the rail element of a trip on the site.
At the same time, Rome2Rio says it is testing flight bookings via Travelport and bus bookings from Distribusion, as part of its instant booking strategy.
CEO Rod Cuthbert says the moves will "allow us to round out our global, multi-modal vision more completely".
Ferry bookings are also expected to be integrated in the future.
