The ordinary traveller might be excited to hear about this intriguing website known as MyTravelGoogle, especially as it has started appearing in search results.
The site may slightly like the Google homepage, and it certainly behaves like it when a search query is entered and the user sees the standard format to display results.
But there the comparison inevitably has to end.
MyTravelGoogle is not a Google product at all - in fact the domain is registered to an individual in Kentucky, USA.
Google confirms it has nothing to do with the site, but has yet to respond to an additional query about branding, copyright or passing-off.
MyTravelGoogle is actually just a simple use of Google Custom Search, a product that has been around for a few years which allows a user to create a search module that will only search on particular sites.
In this case, MyTravelGoogle accepts recommendations from other sites to be included in the system (such as Gadling, Vagabondish, BootsnAll) and only gives results from existing Google organic search from these sites.
Aimed at budget travellers, MyTravelGoogle says:
MyTravelGoogle.com is a new way to search online for travel related articles and keywords without having to worry about the SPAM,
unrelated matches, and big named sites that produce watered down content for revenue.

"MyTravelGoogle is a new way to search online for travel related articles and keywords without having to worry about the SPAM, unrelated matches, and big named sites that produce watered down content for revenue."
Interestingly, MyTravelGoogle is indexing reasonably well in good old fashioned Google, reaching fourth position in the US and Spain for the phrase "Google travel".
