ITA Software, still waiting for regulatory approval to get bought up by Google, introduced its free OnTheFly app for Android.
The app now is available in the Android Market for Droid phones, which use a Google-crafted mobile operating system.
ITA introduced its OnTheFly app for the iPhone and iPod touch on July 25, a few weeks after Google announced its intent to buy ITA.
It was a bit ironic that ITA introduced the app first on the Apple iPhone platform, given Apple's mobile rivalry with Google.
But, Apple's leading position made it a sensible move.
Both apps enable QPX shopping features, including flexible airport and travel date selection, as well as shopping for global flight itineraries.
The apps are shopping only -- no booking capabilities.
The only major difference between the Android and iPhone apps is that the Android version doesn't feature map views yet, an ITA spokeswoman says.
ITA is working on a Blackberry version of the app.
