In a bid to push its mobile application and make tweets less dull, Expedia is running a promotion on Twitter.
The promotion, part of Expedia's 'travel yourself interesting' campaign launched in May, was developed by Ogilvy & Mather and the idea is to take a tweet from a celebrity or the general public and transplant it to a new setting.
The following video, based on a tweet from McFly band member Tom Fletcher, demonstrates how a seemingly mundane tweet can be transplanted to a more 'interesting setting'.
Expedia will let Twitter users know if they have been given the #TYI treatment with a link to the video on YouTube.
The OTA is seeking to promote its newly launched mobile app as part of the campaign and points to research showing more than 80% of tweets are viewed on mobile.
It also anticipates most of the TYI footage will be shot on mobile devices.
