Excursiopedia suspends site to focus on new productNews / DistributionBy Linda Fox | March 8, 2016Share This article was originally published on Tours and activities site Excursiopedia has closed its site while it concentrates on developing a new platform.According to a note on the site the team is redeveloping the platform which "requires all resources focused on new product and means that we stop updating and maintaining our current platform as well as we stop accepting any new bookings."Excursiopedia was founded about five years ago (TLabs here) and aimed to be an international marketplace for tours and activities.The Germany-based startup acquired outdoor activity specialist RangeUp in October 2013 and event travel startup Travelatus a couple of months later.Andrey Osipov, who takes over as chief executive, told Tnooz the company is looking to help solve issues in the tours and activities sector by way of redeveloping Excursiopedia.A statement from former CEO Kirill Sermyagin on the Facebook group Travel Startups is similar to information given on the website and notes, as does the site, that current bookings and obligations to suppliers will be fulfilled.The statement also says Sermyagin will now concentrate on strategic development.Excursiopedia is also continuing to recruit according to this page on AngelList.Related reading:Slow progress in tours and activities but China, mobile and millennials bring hope
