AI-driven travel bot Eddy Travels has added €600,000 to its pre-seed round, bringing the total raised to €1.1 million.
The investment was led by Practical Capital, with Open Circle Capital, Techstars Toronto and angel investors also participating.
The startup received €500,000 in December 2019, saying it would use the funds to extend the capabilities of its assistant as well as develop its natural language capability.
Eddy Travels says it will use the new investment for features to help travelers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
It will also look to expand to new markets once the crisis has passed.
Donatas Keras, partner at Practica Capital says: “The travel industry was severely hit, and it will take some time to recover from COVID-19 impact, we also believe traveler habits might change.
"Eddy Travels is in a unique position to use this pause and emerge strongly to serve the new needs of travelers and the travel industry with natural language processing and personalization technology. We have been with the company already for a year and based on Eddy Travels growth and a plan to use new opportunities we are leading Eddy Travels pre-seed round.”
The startup, which works on platforms including Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp and Telegram, says that two million users have sent voice and text messages to Eddy Travels to help them find travel deals.
