Texting, instant messages and browsing the internet are the three most popular activities performed on a mobile device by travellers when overseas.
Data captured via a survey of 4,250 adults in the UK, Germany and United Arab Emirates by AeroMobile found that online shopping and watching a stream of TV or video were least likely pursuits to be undertaken when on the road.
AeroMobile asked travellers about their mobile activities on a daily basis in both the home and overseas, for comparison purposes.
Unsurprisingly, there is a 20% difference in the number of people making voice calls when at home and during their travels, such are the continued concerns over international tariffs which are imposed on customers by their phone networks.
In a separate study, AeroMobile previously found that there is now a 50% greater number of people using their mobiles to make calls and other activities whilst in-flight on carriers which are able to offer connectivity.
