Trip planning mobile application CreateTrips has added $800,000 to its seed funding bringing the total to US$1.4 million.
The Helsinki-based startup initially secured $600,000 last June with existing investors Butterfly Ventures and Frontier also participating in this latest funding.
Asia-based S3, a software development company, also contributed and CreateTrips already draws 25% of its user based from that market.
Angel investors were also involved including Tuomo Meretniemi, former managing director of Finland-based tour operator Aurinkomatkat.
The startup, which enables users to plan and share trips both online and offline, also aims to have a million active users monthly before the end of the year.
Founder Juha-Petteri Kukkonen says the funds are earmarked for user acquisition, some research and development and the development of b2b partnerships.
A blog post coinciding with the funding news also talks about work with S3 can be read here.
