DEVICES: Apple still manages to get an extraordinary amount of buzz for its iPhones and iPads in comparison to other brands - probably because it is West Coast-based and the overall quality of its design and marketing. Android is on a roll. A staggering 81% of smartphones shipped worldwide in the third quarter of this year were running Google's mobile operating system.
This is up from 74.9 percent during the same time last year, according to technology research firm IDC.
Meanwhile, Apple's numbers fell. The worldwide market share of iOS, the operating system that powers iPhones, dropped during the third quarter to 12.9% from 14.4%.
The reason is less than shocking: iPhones are freaking expensive.
