A PBS news report last evening on the massive and horrible BP oil spill summed up the frustration: Hurricane Katrina came and went in 2005 and it was awful. But this just keeps coming and makes cleanup and recovery all the more uncertain.
Tnooz wants to help.
Tnooz and TripAdvisor have a plan to help hospitality businesses in region. TripAdvisor has announced three months free business listings to hotels, inns, B&Bs and other hospitality providers in the hardest hit coastal regions of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. TripAdvisor also offers three months free advertising to vacation rental properties in the region. Tnooz North America editor Dennis Schaal wrote a post May 26 with details of TripAdvisor's offer.
To help promote recovery, Tnooz has provided TripAdvisor complimentary advertising space on this page through June 30 as a public service announcement of its business listings offer. Tnooz encourages our readers to use social media -- and word of mouth -- to share useful information in the Gulf of Mexico recovery effort.
President for TripAdvisor for Business, Christine Petersen, says: "When we saw our site traffic switching from the Gulf area to other destinations, we knew the properties there may lose business for months to come. We decided to take immediate action to provide some relief in the form of three months free advertising to help hotels, inns, B&Bs and vacation rentals near the affected coast through challenging times. We are listening to our partners and investigating ways way can provide further assistance."
