WorldMate released its mobile personal travel service app on the Android platform.
The free WorldMate for Android app offers itinerary management, hotel bookings, alerts for flights and meetings, Google Maps, currency conversion and 5-day weather forecasts.
WorldMate already had personal travel assistant apps for the Blackberry, iPhone and Symbian platforms, and a spokeswoman says the new Android app has fewer features.
For example, the WorldMate app for the iPhone includes a LinkedIn integration, which is absent for now on WorldMate's Android app.
“The most important area WorldMate focused on with this app is the rich notifications that tend to be rare on other Android apps, as well as the overall UI/UX (user interface/user experience),” a spokeswoman says.
The spokeswoman says WorldMate intends to add new features to its Android app in the future.
The company says it opted for Android to satisfy "tens of thousands of user requests."
