"Sexy, crazy, funny" goes the description --Talk about a creative and potentially sizzling promotion of a destination for Valentine's Day.
The Independence Visitor Center, which covers Philadelphia and the surrounding area in Pennsylvania, took to its Facebook wall to promote "Love Leap Year" for Valentine's Day February 14 in partnership with Wired 96.5 radio and Fox 29 TV.
Pre-selected couples are slated to show up at the Independence Visitor Center at 6th and Market streets in Philadelphia at 9:30 a.m., and the lovers who remain "lip-locked" for the full 29 minutes (in a bow to this leap year's 29 days of February) are eligible to win a one-night stay at the Hotel Palomar and a $500 American Express gift card.
Actually, the couple which kisses the longest after lasting at least 29 minutes will walk away wobbly-legged with the prize, according to the promotional material.
It could be a long day if the making-out makes its way into the evening hours, and there was no word if the contest must end by midnight or not.
The visitor's center loves to promote the city's hotels -- as well as its historic landmarks -- and the smooch-fest should draw a lot of media attention for the destination.
The visitor center, radio station and TV outlet did not explain why they chose a hotel as one of the prizes. But, after what could turn into hours of kissing -- that can be left to the imagination.
