VeryLastRoom has announced seed funding of EURO 400,000 after launching its same-day hotel booking application under a year ago.
The France-based startup, (TLabs here), says the funding will go towards extending its user base as well as signing-up more hotels with a plan to have 1,000 by the end of 2013 from its current base of 450.
The seed funding has come via French e-commerce players Promovacances founder Alain de Mendonca and Allopneus founder Didier Blaise, a number of angel investors and Pole Capital and Generis Capital Partners.
VeryLastRoom plans to continue its focus on France as its core market where it wants to be the main last-minute booking app but has already made its first forays into Belgium and Luxembourg.
Since the startup launched last summer competition in the same-day hotel booking sector has been hotting up with JustBook (TLabs here) and Hot Hotels (TLabs here) gaining momentum in Europe while Asia has seen the launch of HotelQuickly (TLabs here) and CheckInTonight (TLabs here).
