Vayama is extending its use of Amadeus Featured Results to more than 2,000 origin and destination combinations after a successful six month pilot of the search functionality.
The US-based long-haul flight specialist has seen an uplift in conversion of about 15% since it started testing the flight search technology on 50 origins and 20 destinations last November.
The Amadeus technology enables a set of four results to be delivered to Vayama users - cheapest, fastest, sponsored and most popular.
Ted Jansen, chief commercial officer of Travix, Vayama's parent, says that while 'cheapest' continues to drive everything the company wants to learn more about the role of the most popular results.

"Sometimes you can pick up things such as that they're willing to spend more for the convenience factor so it's a way for us to uncover revenue management strategies."
He also talks of Featured Results being applied to marketing, because it enables Vayama to put 'true, bookable prices' into advertising, and the potential impact that will have on conversion.
Vayama has also been working on presenting destination information while still maintaining the simplicityof othe four flight results.

"Four results helps to get them to trust that those are truly the best. Then, you can support with other types of content and it's trying to make the shopping more holistic. They can see the weather, a hotel price but with the flight price results still present.
We believe there is a lot of value in queries that exist in the funnel. Before someone starts shopping for the component there are queries where customers are trading destinations off each other so it's about finding solutions to answer those queries."
According to Jansen, once the technology is bedded down with Vayama, Travix will look at the potential for other brands (EasyToBook, BudgetAir etc) especially if it proves successful in marketing channels.
Jansen was speaking at the Amadeus e-Commerce and Mobile conference in Madrid.
