Sweden's social travel startup Tripl will get more social in New York, where it is relocating on the heels of raising $300,000 by issuing debt securities.
Details of the funding were disclosed in a financial filing.
Growing out of the demise of VacationRelation, Tripl launched in 2011 as a social travel site connecting travelers, locals and people in users' social network.
Brooklyn born Peter Sullivan, co-founder and president of Tripl, says the company is moving to New York and relaunching the product, "still focusing on people, but making it much simpler."
Sullivan says the website will be relaunched, an iOS app is in the works and Tripl will release an API for third-party developers.
The move to New York was spurred by the attractions of the "growing New York tech scene" and the challenges of running a company from Stockholm, given his Big Apple roots, Sullivan says.
The $300,000 funding infusion is "part of a much bigger round we are putting together," Sullivan says.
BetaBeat earlier reported about the Tripl funding round and relocation to New York.
