The online television channel being launched by Reed Travel Exhibitions will feature a series of interviews with senior industry executives every week on key issues affecting travel.
Dolphin Dynamics readies customers for ATOL deadline
Still on the subject of ATOLs, Dolphin Dynamics says its technology is ready for the Civil Aviation deadline of October 1. The company is rolling out the new ATOL Certificate to UK customers with the system automatically assigning the relevant status so travel companies don't have to do it manually.
Wego looks to Pinterest for deals revamp
Wego says it has revamped its deals pages and given them the Pinterest touch. The company has drawn inspiration from the image-focused site to use pictures to showcase the deals. The company is now sourcing deals using editors to scour the internet as well as deals automatically aggregated.
The Torch, Doha, puts room services on iPad
The Torch hotel in Doha is claiming a Middle-East first by providing guests with an iPad pre-loaded with a range of services. The initiative, a collaboration between the hotel, Aspire Katara Investments, Aspire Zone Foundation and Mahindra Satyam, enables guests to access a range of services includinng room service, turn lights on or off, listen to music, access the internet and watch television. Users can also store their preferences on the application.
On a lighter note: A Canberra Times report tells of a man who was accused of 'trespass via radio-wave' for tracking down his stolen iPad to the alleged thief's property. The alleged thief's defence counsel also argues that the iPad owner physically trespassed on his property. Both accusations have been dismissed as absurd in the ongoing case.
