Teletext Holidays has admitted to teething problems with its new website - a delayed launch in itself which unfortunately has coincided with a new high profile TV ad campaign.
The new site was supposed to launch in December 2010, alongside its new iPad application and web TV service, but was held back until last weekend.
But while engineers worked to get the new site up and running, a TV marketing campaign running during some of the UK's prime time slots motored ahead, inevitably sending thousands of visitors to the site.
On Monday this week a number of key elements of the site would not function properly, including the new Inspire Me section, one of the site's most interesting and useful new tools and a major part of its new positioning.
It is designed to let users find holidays based on preferences rather than selecting To and From. The Inspire Me tool is also the major focus of the brand's new iPad application.
The site was also hit by slow loading speeds and problems with rendering of part of the design and content modules.
Marketing director Mark Bloxham acknowledged the problems with the site and says the company decided to continue with its new TV ad campaign at the same time.

"The reason for launching both is that the site has been in the cloud and live for some time, and although we still have teething issues to send the site live was a simple domain name change – not a full server based launch – hence switching it on rather than the older traditional upheaval of a server based launch.
"This in itself has given us some other unseen issues – but we work through these this week."
The whereabouts of the iPad app is still unclear, with no listing available in the iTunes appstore as yet.
