Visiting its third continent in three months, Tnooz brings its global hackathon series to New York City on November 13, 14 and 15.
Join Tnooz and up to 100 other developers for THack @ NYC at cool co-working space LMHQ for a creative and collaborative hackathon to improve travel.
THack @ NYC is free for individual developers and teams up to five members who will compete on-site for more than US$5,000 in cash and other prizes. Participation by developers is FREE and registration on Eventbrite is required.
THack @ NYC brings together developers, designers and other digital "makers" as well as leading travel and technology companies for a creative competition that seeks solutions to real-world travel challenges.
Headline sponsors are Priceline, Sabre, Fareportal, and IBM (and others to be announced).
THack's sponsoring organizations will provide access to their technology and expertise for programming solutions to the following travel challenges:
- Inspiration, discovery, memories – Create an application that helps travelers decide where to go and how to share their experiences and journeys.
- "Real NYC" mobile guide – In the city that never sleeps, stay up all weekend building a mobile application that helps travelers experience authentic New York and its neighborhoods and activities. (Don't forget food!)
- Accommodation finder – Hotel? Hostel? Apartment-sharing? Build a recommendation engine for personalized accommodations for any traveler's style and budget.
- Walk, bike, ride, fly NYC – Create an application for multiple transport choices for "getting to" or "getting around" the city ... or both. (Hint: NYC is one of the world's GREAT walking cities.)
THack @ NYC is
FREE for developers, who may compete as individuals or form teams with a range of programming, design and business development skills. Registration is required for ALL participants. Attendees must bring their admission ticket and a photo ID to enter the event.
NOTE: All hackers must compete on-site. No virtual projects will be accepted.
THack will provide table-top space at LMHQ, power, wifi and A/V presentation equipment. Developers must bring their own laptops, software tools and special presentation devices (e.g., wearable tech, presentation devices/interfaces, etc.).
Food and beverage will be provided. We'll organize a drinks meet-up Friday, Nov. 13, 6 to 9 pm for developers to chat, form teams, and pick tech sponsors' brains.
