UK-based metasearch site Skyscanner today launches a Hand-Picked Deals section, tapping into the success of deals email pioneer Travelzoo.
Skyscanner will select a string of exclusive deals and other offers contained within the system as part of a new channel on the site.
Deals will come from flights, hotels, package holidays and car hire products.
Skyscanner says the idea to introduce a deals section has been on the table for a while but an automated feed was ruled out in favour of publishing dedicated, hand-picked offers.
However, the company is not the first metasearch site to push deals in such a way, with many borrowing the idea first introduced in a successful way by Travelzoo in the US, and since replicated around the world.
Skyscanner says it has no plans to produce a dedicated email along the lines of the Travelzoo Top 20 weekly bulletin, preferring instead at the moment to push on the company's regular AirMail bulletin to subscribers.
