Youth travel specialist STA has joined forces with social network Gap Daemon in a deal designed to help both companies tap into the gap travel market.
STA has set up a dedicated Gap Daemon travel team offering members of the online community a flight and accommodation booking service.
In turn, STA will have access to Gap Daemon's traveller database.
Gap Daemon, featured on Tlabs in October, was established in the UK last year as a community for young travellers on a gap year.
The social network is also planning a mobile application in response to the increase in travellers taking web enabled devices on their trips.
For the past five years STA has also provided its travellers with a blogging service via a platform developed by Off Exploring.
Research conducted by American Express last year predicts 2.5 million young adults in the UK are planning a gap year trip in 2012.
