Four-month-old Room Key checked out of beta and revealed new partnerships with Sabre Hospitality and TravelClick as it attempts to bulk up its hotel choices with independent properties and additional chains.
And, in another twist, given the opposition in some quarters, Room Key integrated user reviews from TripAdvisor.
Room Key, founded by six hotel chains, previously announced a partnership with Trust International to expand the site's inventory.
These new partnerships aren't implemented yet and it remains to be seen just how Room Key will integrate displays from independent hotels to supplement the offerings from the founders and other large, partner chains.
The new agreements with hotel reservations systems are geared "to allow consumers to be able to choose from multiple independent hotels and hotel chains," Room Key states.
On the Sabre side, hotel customers using the SynXis central reservation system will provide their rates and availability to Room Key, a Sabre spokesperson says.
A TravelClick spokesperson didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.
When you search for and find hotels on Room Key, you also see TripAdvisor hotel ratings and snippets of reviews.
Room Key's official launch and coming out party wouldn't be complete without a Facebook page and a sweepstakes, which were likewise publicized today.
