The beginning of the year is a busy one for marketers, who must quickly finalize marketing plans for 2014 - and then begin deploying available assets to begin following through on the plan.
According to one survey by StrongView, the core area of focus for marketers in 2014 will be relevancy. Relevancy will drive engagement, as marketers pursue ways to increase engagement through available data on consumer behavior.
The aforementioned survey found that the majority of respondents will maintain or increase budgets, and will be using the budgets on lifecycle marketing programs that boost engagement, enhance winback and welcome new customers.
Increasing spend also shows where brand marketers are seeing more value, with email marketing, social media and online display working in a higher portion of budgets this year.
Data is also driving much of these decisions, although the surveyed marketers were challenged to manage data and integrate that knowledge into other marketing channels.
