Figures from research carried out last month show browsing of travel sites via mobile represented 43% of all website traffic in June.
This latest tranche of figures from digital consultancy Nucleus predicts the majority of traffic to websites will come from mobile devices by the beginning 2015.
Luxury travel websites outstrip the mainstream marketing according to the research with the top performer seeing more than 55% of traffic coming via mobile devices.
Bookings via devices is also seeing steady growth with smartphone booking value up almost 200% year-on-year, tablet bookings up 17% and PC bookings up 15%.
Smartphone and tablet bookings now account for more than 19% of all online revenue.
Apple devices continue to dominate representing about 88% of bookings and 78% of share although it will be interesting to see if this continues given recent media reports pointing to a slowing in iPad sales.
Android, in comparison, accounts for 19.6% of share, a slight increase from January's figure of 16.5%.
A year ago, the Nucleus research showed mobile browsing represented 32% of all traffic.
