Edinburgh is famed both for its tourist attractions and for being a blossoming tech hub.
Now a homegrown startup has married the Scottish capital's strengths in travel and tech to expand Make It Social, creator of a group travel bookings platform for leisure, travel, and ticketing. (See Tnooz's profile of Make It Social.)
As Tnooz has reported, the two-year old company has raised £215,000 in July from a number of Scotland, London, and US-based private investors including travel sector veteran, Steve Endacott, proprietor of travel software developer CWT Digital.
This summer, a number of trials got underway, with "large international leisure industries players." But to date most of its actual 60 customers have been small.
To appeal to large enterprises, the startup has debuted an application programming interface (API) meant to be developer-friendly and suit the needs of bigger businesses. Developers can test the API at no cost at first. The fee is priced to appeal to large enterprises, too.
Make it Social is headquartered at CodeBase, which calls itself the UK’s largest tech incubator, at Argyle House in Edinburgh. It is hoping to break into group travel bookings in a large way with the hope of additional sales and funding in the next year.
