China-based social travel platform Mafengwo has secured $15 million in series B funding from CapitalToday and QimingVenture Partners.
In October 2011, Mafengwo raised a Series A funding round of $5 million, also from CapitalToday.
Officials say the funding will be used for building "innovative business models", mobile internet services and improving its existing product.
The mobile travel-planning app is said to have been downloaded more than 20 million times since its 2011 release, and the company is planning to launch the next version on in May this year.
The portal provides travelers with information and recommendations on hotels, flights, travel routes, visa, insurance, etc.
In 2012, Mafengwo integrated offerings from local and international online travel booking services including Booking.com, Agoda, Ctrip, and eLong.
The site has more than one million user-generated travel guides and over five million reviews. Mafengwo expects that its user base on the Travel Guide platform will reach 50 million by end of 2014.
