London-based startup Kukunu has extended its social travel recommendation engine outside of the main site into the world's biggest network, Facebook.
The idea is pretty simple: Facebook and Kukunu users can tap into the supposed wisdom of their network (social graph) by posting questions about a property or destination on the Hotel Me page.
"Can anyone recommend a great hotel in San Francisco," for example, with an option to specify dates of travel.
The question is posted onto the Facebook timeline of a user's friends, and hopefully some recommendations come back.
As suggestions come back the application recognises the name of a hotel property and automatically matches it to the Kukunu database (provided by Booking.com).
Availability and price can then be obtained by clicking on the Check Rates button placed against the individual suggestion on the user's wall.
Founder and CEO Itamar Lesuisse says over time the application will be developed to display more information against a hotel property such as price, ratings and possible a price comparison element.
