Is there a flash sales market for upscale vacation packages, including customizable tours, to Latin America?
U.S. and Argentina-based travel startup Itinerie [TLabs Showcase - Itinerie] is about to find out as it launched its first flash sale, a luxury Peru vacation package.
The package, with three departure dates in October 2011, is a seven-night vacation to Peru, including accommodations, tours, internal flights and other transportation, for $3,445 per person for two to four people. The itinerary include stays in Lima, Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu, and the package price does not include international air.
The flash sale runs for two weeks and is geared toward affluent and tech-savvy individuals and couples living in the U.S.
"We want to open our members' eyes to the wonders of the world, rather than simply help them escape the stress of their day-to-day lives," Itinerie says. "As such, our trips will not be fancy resort getaways, but once-in-a-lifetime experiences, done in style."
Can Itinerie make any money offering such upscale packages on a members-only, flash-sales basis?
Let's see.
