There may now be 12,000 hotels featured in the TripAdvisorBusiness Listing scheme, but - amazingly - it now appears the growth is being spearheaded by eager hoteliers in the French capital, Paris.
Among the 1,800 hotels listed on the user review giant's website from the city are 234 properties that have taken up the controversial service giving them additional links and information for a fee.
The figure marks 13% of the total in the capital.
The next cities of note include Rome (191), Florence (115) and Venice (101), contributing to a total of 1,200 across Italy.
Many will note an unfortunate irony associated with this story given that TripAdvisor and Expedia face legal action in France over hotel listings.
Hoteliers affiliated with the Synhorcat union recently filed a lawsuit at the Commercial Court in Paris with a raft of claims against the two companies and sister site Hotels.com.
The group says visitors to TripAdvisor are being misled because they are often directed to Expedia for more information rather than the hotel’s website.
