Hotels.com has launched an iPad application with a host of interactive features aimed at boosting its mobile presence.
The app, which was previewed to friends and family three weeks ago, allows access to 140,00 hotels as well as 20,000 last-minute deals with the ability to search for late availability locally.
The service also offers users an interactive skyline with images of iconic landmarks and various search and filtering tools for consumers to pinpoint the best hotel.
Other features include the ability to synchronise bookings between iPad, mobile device and desktop as well as access to booking history.
Hotels.com unveiled its mobile apps in the spring and claims 1.5 million downloads since April.
The launch of the hotels.com app came hours before the release of a hotels app from ebookers.
The ebookers hotel app is in addition to its Explorer app, released in May, and according to developer Fortune Cookie, is consistently ranking in the top five in its category across more than 80 countries.
The launch of the hotels.com service is supported by marketing activity across mobile and online channels.
