TUI Group's pre-close update issued last week talks up the total transaction volume (TTV) and room night growth for Hotelbeds, and says "the disposal process (for the business) is on track".
The statement repeats the phrase three times.
Operationally, in the six months to end-March 2016, Hotelbeds lifted TTV by 17%, with room nights up 11%, compared with the same period last year. It has also managed to lift its average selling price by 5%.
Elsewhere, TUI—which uses the corporate tagline of "the world's number one tourism group"—says that 44% of winter season bookings were made online, up 2% year-on-year.
Online bookings for the summer season, which runs from April to September, are currently running at 38%—3% higher than they were at the same stage last year.
Thomas Cook Group issued its pre-close update a week before TUI. Its online performance remains a mystery, with its statement making no mention about the volume of bookings it is seeing online.
