Mobile on-demand travel startup HotelTonight has been doing limited tests of a concierge service.
A HotelTonight user was recently offered a chance to use a concierge, referred to as an HT Ace, "a.k.a., local/city host/concierge/travel assistant".
Dave Ambrose, a venture investor in New York, spotted the offer, and tweeted about it.
A spokesperson told Tnooz:

"We are always looking to improve the travel experience for people booking with HotelTonight, which includes testing out new features and services that we may end up incorporating into our offering down the road. This is one of many experiments."
The obvious takeaway: A virtual assistant service for "high rollers" booking expensive hotel rooms might be an effective tool for cross-selling. But maintaining quality control and keeping costs in line could be difficult.
