The Chinese hospitality industry has the same tech challenges as its global peers, including how to take advantage of ongoing developments in cloud computing, big data and APIs.
With hotels running property management systems, booking engines, revenue management tools and social media monitoring platforms, among others, the need to aggregate this data in a business-efficient manner is vital.
But the quality of this data is often overlooked in light of the sheer quantity coming through from the various systems.
Charles Wang, regional head of advisory services at IDeaS Revenue Solutions, talked to China Travel News about this quality/quantity conundrum.

“Data quality is another issue. You need to make sure the data is reliable, and this would need to be sorted out at the time of collection. Also, be sure to identify the most useful data for your organization, and take the time out of your day to work on it.”
