When Facebook brought the curtain down on its deals offering, it left some businesses scratching their heads as to how to replace it.
Online hotels player HRS, which had seen some success with Facebook Deals in terms of both traffic and bookings, decided to develop it's own version of the technology.
Facebook Flashlink is the name of the application, acting as a vehicle for sharing its deals via the social network either from the HRS deals website or from within the deals application in Facebook.
Users click on a post in Facebook which HRS streams live information to as well as up-to-date pricing and availability information according to the selected dates.
A "deal alert" button enables users to subscribe to a regular newsletter if they're not looking to book on the spot.
According to HRS, Facebook Flashlink is optimised for mobile users as well as available in seven languages including English, German, Polish and Russian.
Late last year HRS, which has almost 237,000 likes on Facebook, released a heatmap plotting friends' check-ins so travellers could easily see who has stayed where and share experiences.
