Toronto's GuestLogix said yesterday that it had purchased Initium Onboard, the UK seller of retail technology for airlines and trains, for $5 million in cash and stock.
GuestLogix, which sells onboard retail and payment systems, bought its British counterpart to fortify its customer list of airlines, train lines, other travel companies who want to sell ancillary services.
Initium Onboard's list of 27 clients include major European rail companies, such as Eurostar, Thalys, and the UK's East Coast, and major airlines, such as Lufthansa, Scandinavian, and Air New Zealand.
The purchase comes at the end of a busy 12 months for GuestLogix. The company extended its contracts with Southwest Airlines and US Airways and launched a mobile concierge for airline app management.
