British Airways plans to shut down its Metrotwin social media platform at the end of September after three years in operation.
The airline recently unveiled its Perfect Days application on Facebook encouraging users to submit their ideal itineraries for any of the airline's destinations around the globe.
A BA spokesperson said the airline now plans to focus on developing:

"its popular Facebook, Twitter and YouTube channels"
The Metrotwin platform linked London and New York and enabled travellers to create profiles, make recommendations and submit reviews.
A similar service for Mumbai, launched in September 2009, will also close at the end of the month.
Virgin Atlantic also withdrew its Vtravelled community earlier this year with plans to give it a new focus and relaunch in the first quarter of next year.
Vtravelled was unveiled in June 2009.
