Groupon and Expedia are teaming to provide Groupon customers with a travel product.
The product hasn't launched yet, but Groupon is accepting enrollees in the service here.
"Groupon and Expedia have teamed to bring you unbeatable deals on travel destinations around the world," the sign-up page says.
The partnership brings together a dominant player in online travel with a dominant flash sales site, making for a powerful competitor to other flash sales sites and possibly travel sites such as Travelzoo, which entered the market last Summer.
Together, Expedia and Groupon claim 50 million members.
As with other Groupon products, you can sign up for emails with offers based on geographic areas.
All Things D broke the story about the partnership, which was to be announced today at the D conference.
The getaways product reportedly is slated to begin later this month.
The two companies' sales forces would both be put to use to further the effort, All Things D reports.
Expedia says the solution is called Groupon Getaways with Expedia and will offer discounted hotel deals for the 135,000 hotels that work with Expedia.
The product will launch in the U.S. and Canada initially, and will expand to other countries and branch out from hotels to also include air, car, cruise, packages and destination activities, Expedia says.
For suppliers, the getaways product may offer added exposure to a new customer segment, but suppliers will also have to deal with greatly reduced margins if they decide to participate in the product.
Consumers can also sign up for the service on Expedia.com.
An Expedia spokesman says despite the Groupon partnership, Expedia intends to continue with its own flash sales product, called ASAP.
