Twigmore, the Facebook-based social travel application, is shutting shop after two years in operation.
The New York-based startup (TLabs here) wanted to help travellers meet locals in destinations via their Facebook network.
A link posted on Twigmore's Facebook page a few hours ago takes users to a message from founders Stephen Smyth and Peter Baer which says the site will stop working and:

"all data will be removed from the end of this month."
The company was bootstrapped for the first seven months before receiving $125,000 from angel investors followed by a further $150,00 from the same group in October 2011.
Interesting to note that the company recognised Facebook launching its own travel features as a potential threat to the business model.
Tnooz has contacted the company for comment.
