Carnival Cruise Lines entered into a marketing alliance with concert promoter Live Nation Entertainment and will hype the partnership in social media.
Carnival says part of the agreement calls for Carnival Sailgate Parties before concerts and Carnival-reserved VIP seating, all of which will be photographed and posted on the cruise line's Facebook page.
Consumers will be able to get further details about the partnership in the next few weeks on Carnival's Facebook page, the line says.
The Carnival-Live Nation agreement makes Carnival the Official Concert Series Sponsor at Live Nation concert venues in Altanta; Washington, D.C.; Houston and Dallas. All of the venues are in driving distance of Carnival homeports. Carnival says it is the first cruise line to partner with Live Nation.
The cruise line gets to plaster its branding on concert and show tickets and in ads promoting various concerts. Carnival also promises to provide "exclusive artist access" to its guests.
It's not surprising that Carnival would promote the partnership on Facebook since it has become increasingly active there as of late.
For example, the line posted almost a dozen videos on Facebook May 1 timed to coincide with the launch of the Carnival Magic.
