Two new tourism apps have arrived, one from the Israeli Ministry of Tourism and another from Mobiata.
The Israel Ministry of Tourism's free iPhone and iPad app, ISrael, enables users to get information about tourist attractions, hotels and to plan trips based on sample itinearies.
Using GPS features with detailed maps, the app gauges the location of an attraction relative to the user's location and provides the distance.
ISrael, available in English and Hebrew, also enables travelers to build customized tours, replete with photographic and multimedia aids.
Meanwhile, Mobiata introduced FlightBoard for the iPhone and iPad at $3.99 per download.
FlightBoard turns your device into an airport's departure and arrivals board, with updates occuring every five minutes, Mobiata says.
The interface resembles the board at Charles de Gaulle Airport and the app covers 4,000 airports and 1,400 airlines, the company says.
In an email to users, Mobiata says: "FlightBoard was a definite labor of love. Everyone at Team Mobiata loves travel and as we started to play with FlightBoard, we all naturally searched flights at our favorite airports and told stories about our favorite cities. I think that’s why FlightBoard is such a great app. It’s useful as a tool to help navigate to and from the airport but it also has this way of making people sit back and reminisce about their favorite cities."
There should be plenty of time to reminisce while waiting for that plane to arrive or depart.
