Marissa Mayer-led Yahoo continues its shopping spree, this time Yahoo Japan has acquired Venture Republic, Japan-based company which runs ecommerce portals.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Venture Republic, a company which was co-founded by Kei Shibata in 2001, runs metasearch brand Travel.jp, hotel review service Hotel.jp and Coneco.net, a comparison shopping portal.
Shibata says both the company's dedicated travel services Travel.jp and Hotel.jp aren't part of this deal. These portals will continue to operate independently and by the existing teams.
Whether there will be any larger integration with Yahoo Japan Travel, he adds:

"Our travel business is independent and we don't expect any business relationship with Yahoo Japan! at this moment."
Shibata, in a personal capacity, has invested in Flocations, the Singapore-based holiday metasearch service and also a director at the company.
Before the recent Rockmelt browser acquisition by Yahoo, the company also acquired Qwiki, an iPhone app that creates story-telling videos.

Again, which travel company do you think Yahoo should buy next?
