INVESTMENTS: Amadeus Ventures is backing Situm, a Spain-based indoor positioning system that helps travelers navigate their way around tourist venues, such as airports, hotels and attractions, as well as for venues to understand the flow of people. The undisclosed investment round (Amadeus usually supports startups to the tune of between €500,000 and €3 million) included participation from Unirisco and Xesgalicia.
DISTRIBUTION: Jetstar has signed with Travelport for distribution of its fares and ancillary products via the GDS. The deal includes content from four carriers in the group (core brand, Asia, Pacific and Japan) and also coincides with using Travelport Rich Content and Branding platform.
LOYALTY: HotelTonight is overhauling its rewards service - HT Perks - to include four tiers of discounts, based on a user's activity with bookings. The new pricing and points line-up coincides with a new tool to allow bookers to save points for a later hotel.
PACKAGING: Omni Hotels is using Expedia to power a new vacations service on its chain website. Hotel guests can bundle room stays with flight options, as well as use loyalty points to redeem on items such as wifi and upgrades.
ATTRACTIONS: Adventoro launches its website this week in a bid to lure travelers around the world to tours and activities in Malaysia. Alongside search and booking tools, consumes can interest with WhatsApp chat or a web-based live chat service.
