What else is going on in the world of travel tech? A round-up of other stories from across the industry.
- Social travel startup Tripl came out of beta this week. Tripl emerged from the ashes of another startup VacationRelation earlier this year, launched by Peter Sullivan and David Los. The service combines a user's entire social graph (not just official friends) to let them create connections before, during and after a trip. "Compared to other sites like Twigmore, Trippy or Gtrot, Tripl not only connects with people from within your exiting network, but also allows you to connect to new travelers and locals that may share the same passion, language, or upcoming trip," says Sullivan.
- Ski-Hire-Europe is claiming to be the first every multi-company winter ski price comparison site in the UK, unveiled for the first time this week. Launched by the creators of finance metasearch service MoneyMaxim, ski fans will be able to search products in 600 major ski resorts in France, Austria, Switzerland and Italy, as well as a number of locations in North America.
- Expedia extends its Affiliate Network project around the Pacific rim, capturing a significant deal with Australia and New Zealand online travel agency WebJet. The agency will be using EAN to tap into Expedia's portfolio of hotel inventory, currently running at around 145,000 properties worldwide. The partnership came about after WebJet A/B tested hotel inventory on a re-direct to Webjet-branded and non-branded websites, with the former seeing double the number of purchases.
