What else is going on in the world of travel tech? A round-up of other stories from across the industry...
- Rough Guides has joined forces with HipGeo to launch a Trip Lens application for iPad and iPhone devices. The app uses GPS to enable travellers to record their travels as they go along, share text and photos with friends and family, via Facebook and Twitter, and create a story around their journey. A map helps them plot the journey as they go along and users can also link to a website which compiles photos into a personalised blog. If no Wi-Fi is available posts are saved and automatically uploaded the next time there's a connection.
- Priceline is targeting families with the addition of a third way to book its hotels. The Express Deals function, released in time for peak summer travel, can guarantee any specific requirements such as additional beds or swimming pool while still benefitting from a good price. The Express Deals is accessible via an orange tab at the top of the selected city page.
- Expedia Affiliate Network has partnered with Greece-based online travel agency Airtickets to offer locals access to flight and hotel package deals. The partnership enables airtickets to offer dynamic packaging to its website visitors which is predominantly outbound from Greece and Cyprus to European cities. There are also plans for airtickets to use EAN's Smart Cross Sell facility in the coming months.
- Nor1, has released FrontDesk Upsell, the latest enhancement to the upsell specialist's platform. The technology aims to help hotels earn revenue via relevant upsell at the front desk. The technology, which is available to all properties using Micros Opera, provides real-time inventory availability and also includes a reporting facility.
