The Yangtze River may be engulfed in mist at times, but Victoria Cruises says its passengers should have clear Internet connections on their laptops because its ships now have 3G wireless capabilities.
The New York-based cruise line will offer wireless 3G USB modems for $51 per laptop on its three- and four-night Three Gorges Highlight sailings between Chongqing and Yichang in China.
The fee for the modems is $88 for six- and eight-night Grand Yangtze Discovery sailings between Chongqing and Shanghai, the line says.
For those cruisers who take the radical step of leaving their laptops at home, the cruise line has likewise boosted the access speed of public computers near its shipboard Yangtze Clubs and these can be used for $22 on the three- or four-night cruises, and for $44 on the longer Chongqing to Shanghai itineraries.
There's nothing like being able to access your emails and bulky attachments with 3G mobile technology while you are cruising along the Yangtze.
