Tuniu is looking to move beyond its comfort zone as a specialist tour operator for Chinese domestic and international travellers by adding more standalone flight, hotel and attraction ticket options.
It has recently opened up its platform to third-party air and hotel suppliers and is also looking to have more feet on the ground outside China so it can directly contract its new inventory.
And it is looking to its new strategic partner, HNA Group, to help it grow the non-tour side of its business in the coming years.
Its CFO Conor Yang talked to China Travel News about its new approach, which is intended to complement not replace its core business.
